Mumbai, Nov 23: The ruling Mahayuti alliance has emerged victorious in the Maharashtra assembly elections and is set to secure a sweeping mandate.

The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance has crossed the halfway mark, securing leads in over 230 seats, according to trends from the Election Commission of India. The BJP has won 101 seats and is ahead in 32 seats, Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has won 47 seats and leads in 10 seats, and Ajit Pawar led NCP has won 37 seats and leads in four seats.

Meanwhile, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance lags behind winning 42 seats and leading in six, including Congress winning 11 and leading in four, Shiv Sena (UBT) winning 19 and leading in one and NCP (SP) winning 10 seats.

Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah called Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, BJP leader and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, and NCP leader and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar to congratulate them.

While extending his greetings, Amit Shah emphasized maintaining stability in the state and prioritizing the development agenda. He remarked that the people of Maharashtra have placed their trust in the government, which must be fulfilled through collective efforts.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde earlier stated that the alliance, which contested the elections as a united front, will make a collective decision on the Chief Ministerial post after the final results are announced.

“Let the final results come in… Then, in the same way as we fought elections together, all three parties will sit together and take a decision (on who will be the CM),” Shinde stated.

Eknath Shinde said that they are ready to form the Mahayuti government in the state and thanked the voters of Maharashtra for their support in the victory. He called it a spectacular win and reiterated that he had previously predicted a massive victory for Mahayuti. He expressed his gratitude to everyone and thanked the workers from all sections of society and Mahayuti parties.

Responding to questions from journalists, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed inquiries about becoming the Chief Minister. He stated that it was decided from the very beginning within the Mahayuti alliance that the leaders of all three parties would come together after the elections to make a decision. He assured that the decision would be acceptable to everyone and that there would be no dispute over it.
