Dhanbad, Nov 29: Smita Gupta from Dhanbad has secured the top position in the prestigious eight-year painting course offered by the renowned Bangiya Sangeet Parishad. This remarkable achievement marks the first time in 47 years that a student from Jharkhand has emerged as the national topper in this course.

Shiv Shankar Dhar, the Jharkhand representative of Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, shared this milestone and highlighted its significance for the state.

Smita Gupta will receive a certificate and a special award for her accomplishment at the 47th convocation of Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, scheduled in Dhanbad Club on December 1.

About Bangiya Sangeet Parishad

The Kolkata-based Bangiya Sangeet Parishad operates branches not only in Jharkhand but also in the USA, Gulf countries, and East Asian nations. The institution is dedicated to promoting courses in art and culture.

The eight-year painting course is one of its highly regarded programs, and Smita Gupta’s success has brought national attention to the artistic talent emerging from Jharkhand.

Col JK Singh to be chief guest of convocation

The Commandant of Jharkhand Police, Colonel J.K. Singh, will serve as the chief guest at the 47th convocation. Notable guests of honour include renowned humanitarian writer, poet, and lyricist Subhra Konar, as well as eminent accordion instrumentalist Kali Prasad Banerjee.

Additionally, Shyamal Ganguli from Kolkata, representing Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, will also be present to grace the event.

Awards for excellence

Shiv Shankar Dhar mentioned that certificates and awards for outstanding academic achievements will be presented to 60 postgraduate students in various disciplines during the convocation.

This event will celebrate the exceptional talent nurtured by Bangiya Sangeet Parishad while encouraging future artists and scholars to excel in their fields.
