Three-day DGP-IGP Conference begins in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: The three-day annual All India Conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police 2024 began on Friday, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Reports suggest the conference will focus on issues such as internal security, Jammu and Kashmir, pro-Khalistan elements, cybercrime, challenges posed by AI, and threats from drones, among others.

The conference is being held from November 29 to December 1.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Bhubaneswar to attend the conference while NSA Ajit Doval also arrived to participate in the DGP-IGP conference.

PM Modi, top security officials to attend

Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan informed that Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Bhubaneswar on the night of November 29 and will attend the conference from November 30 to December 1.

The program will also be attended by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, senior officials from the Intelligence Bureau, Directors General of Police (DGPs) from all states, and heads of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), National Security Guard (NSG), and Special Protection Group (SPG).

According to official sources, approximately 250 officers of DGP and IGP rank will participate in the conference, along with over 200 officers joining via teleconferencing.

Enhanced security in Bhubaneswar

Several areas in Bhubaneswar have been declared no-fly zones in preparation for the conference. An official notification stated that during the All India IGP-DGP Conference, scheduled from November 29 to December 1, the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) area, Raj Bhavan, Lok Seva Bhawan, IPS Mess, and the routes connecting these locations will be designated as no-flying zones.

Ground security will be managed by 38 platoons of state police, along with personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF).
