New Delhi, Dec 17: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will no longer conduct recruitment examinations starting in 2025. The agency will focus solely on conducting higher education entrance exams, announced Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan during a press interaction.

Pradhan stated that this decision is based on recommendations from a high-level panel formed earlier this year following the alleged leak of the NEET medical entrance exam and the cancellation of exams due to leaks and other irregularities.

The Union Minister stated that the NTA will be restructured in 2025, with the creation of 10 new positions. He further mentioned that the Ministry is in discussions with the Ministry of Health to decide whether exams should continue in the traditional pen-and-paper format or transition to Computer-based Test (CBT).

The restructuring follows recommendations from a high-level committee led by former ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Radhakrishnan. The committee, formed in June after the NEET-UG exam paper leak, submitted its report to the Ministry of Education on October 21.

The NTA currently conducts several entrance exams, including NEET-UG, JEE Main, UGC NET, CUET, CMAT, and the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test. The National Testing Agency also presently conducts recruitment examinations.
