ASI conducts survey of ancient Kartikeya Temple in Sambhal

Sambhal, Dec 20: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) today conducted carbon dating of an ancient Kartikeya temple in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.

According to available information, the ASI discreetly completed the carbon dating process at this historic temple. A four-member expert team was deployed for the task.

Additionally, sources indicate that the ASI has inspected five pilgrimage sites and 19 ancient wells in Sambhal.

The temple had remained locked since 1978 due to communal riots that led to the displacement of the local Hindu community and reopened on December 13 after being closed for 46 years.

The ASI inspected five pilgrimage sites and 19 ancient wells, including Bhadrak Ashram, Swargadeep, Chakrapani, and the ancient Shmashan Temple. Reports indicate that the team conducted an in-depth study of the condition and historical significance of these ancient wells.

Sources report that the ASI had requested the administration to keep this inspection away from media coverage. According to the District Magistrate of Sambhal, the temple survey has been completed.
