Dhanbad, Dec 23: Two young doctors from Jharkhand, Dr. Raghvendra Kumar Rathore and Dr. Aman Kumar Singh, have been chosen for the prestigious Indian Medical Association (IMA) Junior Doctors Network (JDN) National Award.

Dr. Rathore is currently serving at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) in Jamshedpur, while Dr. Singh is a final-year MBBS student at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi.

Dr. Rathore holds the position of General Secretary of the Jharkhand Junior Doctors Network (JDN), and Dr. Singh serves as the President of the Medical Students Network. Both doctors have been recognized for their notable contributions to the medical field, particularly their efforts to advance modern healthcare and improve medical services in the state.

Award ceremony on December 27

The award will be presented to Dr. Rathore and Dr. Singh on December 27 during the National Conference Utsav 2024, to be held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana.

In a letter issued by IMA National Secretary General Anil Kumar J Nayak, the two doctors were praised for their exceptional contributions to the medical community, which earned them this national honour.

Praise from senior doctors

Senior doctors in Jharkhand have applauded the achievements of Dr. Rathore and Dr. Singh. Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, the senior-most doctor in the state, convener of the IMA Jharkhand chapter, and former national vice-president, described the recognition as a motivational milestone for the two young doctors.

He remarked, “We are proud of the accomplishments of the new generation of doctors in our state. Despite facing challenging circumstances, they have delivered outstanding performances.”

Contributions to national advocacy and agitation

Apart from their hospital work, both doctors gained national recognition during their involvement in the agitation following the murder of a doctor at Kolkata’s AG Kar Medical College Hospital.

Dr. Raghvendra Kumar Rathore highlighted key issues such as reducing the mandatory three-year service bond for doctors and advocating for an increase in honorariums.

Meanwhile, Dr. Aman Kumar Singh was instrumental in reorganising the Medical Students Network (MSN) across medical colleges in Jharkhand. He also mobilized students to protest against the mistreatment of doctors and played a key role in advocacy efforts.

The achievements of these two young doctors serve as an inspiration for the medical community, demonstrating their commitment to healthcare and their ability to lead even in difficult circumstances.
