Manmohan Singh’s cremation tomorrow with state honors; 7-day national mourning declared

New Delhi, Dec 27: Former Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, will be cremated with full state honors near Rajghat tomorrow, Saturday.

Manmohan Singh passed away late on Thursday night. The 92-year-old former Prime Minister breathed his last at AIIMS in Delhi. He had been battling health issues for a long time. On Thursday evening, he was admitted to AIIMS Delhi after experiencing difficulty in breathing.

The ceremony is awaiting the arrival of one of his daughter, who resides in the United States. She is expected to reach Delhi tonight, following which the cremation will take place.

Tomorrow morning, his mortal remains will be kept at the Congress headquarters from 8 AM to 10 AM for public homage.

Meanwhile, the Central Government has declared a seven-day state mourning following the demise of the former Prime Minister.

The Congress party has also cancelled all its programs scheduled for today. Late at night, Manmohan Singh’s mortal remains were brought from AIIMS to his residence in Delhi.

The Union Cabinet meeting on Friday remembered the contributions of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to the nation and passed a condolence resolution.

Today, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, among other leaders, paid their last respects to the mortal remains of the former Prime Minister at his residence.
