Dhanbad, Dec 27: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Dhanbad has arrested Sanjoy Kumar, the Principal Assistant of the Record Room at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office, along with his associate, Somnath Chatterjee, a contractual staff member, for accepting a bribe of ₹6,500 from a landowner.

Both individuals were caught red-handed during the act.

According to ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jitendra Kumar, Sanjoy Kumar had demanded a bribe from Manohar Mahto, a resident of Tundi block, on December 20. The bribe was in exchange for providing a copy of Mahto’s land documents. The same day, Mahto filed a complaint with the ACB.

After verifying the allegations, the ACB organized a sting operation at the record room near Court More. As part of the operation, Mahto visited the office with the bribe money. Following Kumar’s instructions, he handed the cash to Somnath Chatterjee.

The ACB team immediately apprehended both Sanjoy Kumar and Somnath Chatterjee as Chatterjee accepted the money. Later, the team searched Kumar’s residence at Bhisti Pada Devalaya Apartment to gather additional evidence.
