Patna, Dec 31: In Patna, Congress and Left party legislators and MPs took to the streets on Tuesday in support of the protesting students over the BPSC (Bihar Public Service Commission) controversy.
They began a march from the Legislative Assembly to the Raj Bhavan, holding posters demanding the cancellation of the BPSC exam and protesting the police baton charge on students.
As they reached the Raj Bhavan, the police stopped them. In response, the leaders sat down on the road to express their protest. They demanded the police show them the rule under which legislators were being prevented from meeting the Governor.

However, after some time, the police allowed them to proceed, though a minor scuffle took place during the incident.
On Monday, the Left parties and RJD called for a Bihar bandh, leading to protests across various parts of the state. Reports suggest that protesters blocked trains at two locations and caused roadblocks in six cities.
Reportedly, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary held discussions on the issue.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that BPSC is an autonomous body and should make its own decisions. He added that previous governments had interfered in the functioning of BPSC, but such interference should not occur now.
