New Delhi, Jan 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually inaugurated the New Jammu Railway Division and the Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana, and laid the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building of East Coast Railway in Odisha.

Milestone in transportation infrastructure

During the virtual inauguration and foundation-laying of several railway projects across Telangana, Odisha, and Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi highlighted that these initiatives symbolize the nation’s growth and reflect the principle of “sab ka sath sab ka vikaas” (development for all).

He underscored a key milestone in India’s transportation infrastructure, especially in the metro network and Indian Railways, saying that India now has 1,000 km of metro services.

PM Modi also spoke about the transformation of Indian Railways over the last decade, describing it as a time of noticeable improvements that have enhanced the country’s image and strengthened the confidence of its citizens.

Key developments in Jammu-Kashmir, Telangana and Odisha

The formation of the 742.1-kilometre Jammu Railway Division, covering areas such as Pathankot, Jammu, Udhampur, Srinagar, and Baramulla, along with the Bhogpur Sirwal-Pathankot, Batala-Pathankot, and Pathankot to Joginder Nagar sections, will provide significant connectivity to Jammu and Kashmir and its neighbouring areas.

The Charlapalli New Terminal Station, located in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district of Telangana, has been developed as a new coaching terminal with an investment of approximately Rs 413 crore, including a second entry.

This eco-friendly terminal, equipped with excellent passenger facilities, will help alleviate congestion at existing coaching terminals in the city, such as Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda.

The Rayagada Railway Division Building of East Coast Railway will enhance connectivity in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and surrounding areas, contributing to the region’s overall socio-economic development.
