Ranchi, Jan 12: The National President of the Public Schools and Children Welfare Association (PASWA), Alok Kumar Dubey, has described the allegations against the Carmel School Principal, Digwadih in Dhanbad, as shocking for the education community. However, he emphasized that preliminary investigations suggest the accusations are baseless and urged people to refrain from politicizing the issue.

Dubey stated that tarnishing educational institutions, which play a vital role in shaping the future of children and turning them into political battlegrounds is a grave offence.

“The role of teachers goes beyond academics; they are also responsible for maintaining discipline among students. Education is incomplete without discipline. Unfortunately, today, overly sharp reactions from parents to minor issues hinder the smooth functioning of schools and send a message of indiscipline to children. That said, it is equally important for teachers and schools to ensure their decisions are just and fair,” Dubey explained.

Principal’s Response

The principal of the school strongly denied the allegations, stating, “I have always upheld the honour and dignity of all girl students. The accusations levelled against me are entirely false and malicious. This is nothing but a conspiracy aimed at tarnishing my reputation.”

PASWA’s Next Steps

Dubey announced that PASWA would soon establish an independent investigation committee to examine the matter impartially and transparently. “No one should be declared guilty or subjected to bias before the investigation is completed. The truth will emerge only through a fair inquiry,” he said.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, both the education department and the district administration have already launched their investigations.

Importance of Discipline and Academics

Dubey further stressed the need for a balance between academics and discipline in schools. “Discipline is essential for children to succeed in all areas of life. However, this does not mean schools should be allowed to engage in inappropriate practices.”

Appeal to Society

Dubey called on society to act responsibly by not believing in rumours. “The truth should be determined based on the findings of the administration and the investigation committee. It is our collective responsibility to uphold the sanctity of educational institutions, which are temples of learning,” he concluded.
