INCOIS awarded Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar

THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

 

New Delhi, Jan 23: The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), based in Hyderabad, Telangana, has been awarded the prestigious Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar 2025 in the Institutional Category for its outstanding contribution to disaster management.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) made this announcement on Thursday.

Established in 1999, INCOIS plays a vital role in India’s disaster preparedness providing early alerts for ocean-related hazards. Its Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre (ITEWC) provides tsunami alerts within 10 minutes to India and 28 other Indian Ocean countries.

This annual award, instituted by the Central Government, honors the exceptional service and contributions of individuals and organizations in disaster management across India. It carries a cash prize of ₹51 lakh and a certificate for institutions, while individuals receive ₹5 lakh and a certificate.

Announced every year on January 23, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the award is a tribute to his legacy.

For the 2025 edition, nominations opened on July 1, 2024 and a total of 297 nominations were received from individuals and institutions nationwide.
