PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Jan 27: Minimum temperatures in Jharkhand saw a sharp decline, dipping below 10°C in several locations as the impact of the western disturbance subsided.

Most parts of the state experienced clear skies and low humidity levels, contributing to the significant temperature drop.

The good news is that the cool weather is expected to persist for the next few days before temperatures begin to rise again.

Ranchi records a chilly 9°C

Ranchi recorded a chilly 9°C, one degree below the normal range.

In Daltonganj, the Palamu district headquarters, the temperature dropped by three degrees to 7°C, which is three notches below the average for this time of year.

Temperatures plummeted further to 4°C in Gumla and Giridih, while minimum readings hovered around 5°C in Garhwa and Khunti.

Night temperatures ranged between 7°C and 8°C in Bokaro and Dhanbad.

In Jamshedpur, the minimum temperature fell to 9.4°C.

“The sharp drop in temperature is due to the waning impact of the western disturbance,” confirmed a senior official from the Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

Meteorologists expect the cold conditions to persist for about 48 more hours before temperatures gradually begin to rise.

The forecast indicates no likelihood of cloud formation due to local effects or any weather systems over the Bay of Bengal for at least the next five days.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore, Kolkata, added that westerly winds are currently dominating the state and are expected to persist over the coming days.
