New Delhi, Jan 30: Senior IPS officer Gyanendra Pratap Singh has officially taken charge as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
A 1991-batch officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, Singh assumed his new role on Thursday at the CRPF headquarters, succeeding Special Director General Vitul Kumar, who was serving as the officiating chief.
Appointed by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on January 18, 2025, Singh’s tenure as CRPF chief will continue until his retirement on November 30, 2027.

Before this, he held several key positions in law enforcement, most notably serving as the Director General of Assam Police.
Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in counter-insurgency operations, law enforcement reforms, and efforts to strengthen policing strategies.
