Daltonganj, Feb 7: A medical team comprising doctors Purnima and Ravi, along with nurses Sabana, Nilam, and Anupama, as well as Yogender and Om Prakash, successfully performed a cesarean section on 26-year-old Phulkumari Devi, a particularly vulnerable tribal Parhaiya woman. She had been referred from Latehar district for treatment.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Dharmendra Kumar stated that the patient was experiencing obstructed labor (OL), a critical condition where labor fails to progress due to the fetus being disproportionate to the mother’s birth canal. He praised the team’s expertise in managing the situation effectively and ensuring a successful delivery.

Dr Dharmendra Kumar said the patient was operated upon last night around 9.45 pm. The newborn girl weighed 3.5 kg and her mother was given one unit of blood without any exchange of it.

The girl is in the SNCU (Special Newborn Care Unit). She will get her immunisation on her discharge from the SNCU.

As the woman comes from the particularly vulnerable tribal Parhaiya group, the birth of a girl child matters most.

The population of the particularly vulnerable tribal groups is dwindling in Palamu. It is restricted to 12,000 plus only.

The way this poor vulnerable tribal Parhaiya woman was medically taken care of, reflects on the betterment of the MMCH Daltonganj, said sources.
