Dhanbad, Feb 8: Dhanbad Principal District and Sessions Judge Birendra Kumar Tiwari underscored the collective responsibility towards society, stressing the importance of fulfilling duties in a timely manner.

While inaugurating a workshop on Multi-Stakeholder Consultation, Judge Tiwari, who also serves as Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), highlighted the delays in compensating families of road accident victims due to untimely submission of accident-related documents in court.

He pointed out that the Supreme Court (SC) mandates submission of such documents within 30 days, and failure by the concerned police officials could result in legal action.

Need for Prompt Documentation in Road Accident Cases

Judge Tiwari emphasized that timely submission of accident-related documents would ensure swift compensation for victims’ families. He called it both a legal obligation and a social responsibility to adhere to the SC directive.

“So, police officials must ensure the submission of accident-related documents in court within the stipulated time as per Supreme Court order,” he said, addressing the workshop.

The event also featured addresses by Family Court Principal Judge T. Hussan, Labour Judge Prem Lata, and Sub-Judge cum DLSA Secretary Rakesh Roshan, along with Bar Association President Amrendra Kumar Sahay.

DLSA Secretary Rakesh Roshan noted that compensation claims must be filed with the tribunal within six months of the accident, warning that delays could create significant difficulties for victims’ families in receiving financial relief.

Road Safety and Victim Assistance Discussed

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Arvind Kumar Singh shed light on the primary causes of road accidents, while Road Engineer Analyst Amresh Kumar provided insights on how to extend immediate help to accident victims.

The event was attended by District and Sessions Judges Rajnikant Pathak, Durgesh Chandra Awasthi, Paras Kumar Sinha, Saket Kumar, Prafful Kumar, and several other dignitaries.
