Jamshedpur, Dec 4: Cyclonic storm Michaung would impact Jharkhand’s weather, said weathermen today.

Cloud formation is expected in some places while IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light rain in southern and adjoining central parts of Jharkhand on Tuesday.

The Met centre also predicted unseasonal rain due to the impact of the cyclonic storm on Wednesday and Thursday.

The cyclonic storm Michaung (pronounced as Migjaum) over Southwest Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards and lay centred over the same region near Latitude 11.5°N and Longitude 82.4°E, about 290 km east-southeast of Puducherry, 290 km southeast of Chennai, 420 km southeast of Nellore, 530 km south-southeast of Bapatla and 530 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam.

It is likely to continue to move northwestwards, intensify further and reach Westcentral Bay Of Bengal off south Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamil Nadu coasts by today afternoon.

Thereafter, it would move nearly northwards almost parallel and close to the south Andhra Pradesh coast and cross the South Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam during the forenoon of  December 5 as a severe cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph.

The adverse weather would result in a rise in minimum temperature over Jharkhand.
