Coimbatore, Feb 26: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday inaugurated three new BJP offices in Coimbatore, Tiruvannamalai and Ramanathapuram. In addition, Shah participated in a tree plantation drive. This initiative is viewed as a key component of the BJP’s strategy to strengthen its foothold in South India. Amit Shah arrived in Coimbatore on Tuesday night for a three-day visit to Tamil Nadu.

On this occasion, BJP state president K. Annamalai and other BJP leaders were present. It is reported that they discussed the strategy to be adopted for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in 2026.

Additionally, they held discussions with senior party leaders on strengthening the party in the Kongu region, which includes Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, and neighboring districts. They emphasized focusing on areas where the party has a strong voter base.

MK Stalin and son diverting attention from real issues

Attacking the ruling DMK, Amit Shah said, “Sometimes it feels as if DMK has let all the corrupts in the society join DMK through a membership drive. MK Stalin and his son are raising several issues to deviate from real concerns. Today, they are going to have a meeting regarding delimitation. PM Modi has made it clear that even after delimitation, the seats of none of the states in the South will be decreased.”

Modi Govt allocated Tamil Nadu ₹5,08,337 crore in 10 years

On this occasion, Amit Shah responded to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin’s claims that the Modi government had wronged the state. Shah stated that he was there to tell Stalin that if he was truthful, he should answer the questions Shah was raising before the people of the state.

He pointed out that the UPA government, which was in power from 2004 to 2014, provided the state with ₹1,52,901 crore in grants and transfers. In comparison, the Modi government had given ₹5,08,337 crore over 10 years. Shah also mentioned that the Modi government had allocated ₹1,43,000 crore for infrastructure development.
