Jharkhand CM pushes for AI in ITIs, hands over job letters to 49 training officers

Ranchi, March 5: In a major push for skill development and employment, Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasized the need to include Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses in Industrial Training Institute (ITI) curricula.

Speaking at an appointment letter distribution ceremony organized by the Department of Labour, Training, Planning, and Skill Development, he highlighted how AI is reshaping industries and called for immediate steps to integrate it into vocational training.

At the same event, 49 newly selected training officers received their appointment letters from the Chief Minister, marking a step toward strengthening ITI institutes across Jharkhand. He assured that the government’s commitment to expanding job opportunities and enhancing skill development would continue in the coming years.

Congratulating the newly appointed training officers, the Chief Minister noted that they were beginning a journey filled with responsibilities and opportunities as part of the government workforce. He expressed confidence that their training efforts would equip youth with the skills necessary to secure employment both in India and abroad.

Technology and AI: The Future of Training

With industries rapidly adopting cutting-edge technologies, including automation and AI, traditional labour-intensive jobs are evolving. The Chief Minister warned that failing to adapt to new technologies would make securing employment increasingly difficult. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to integrating AI and other modern technologies into ITI training programs, ensuring that students are future-ready.

AI and Electric Vehicle Courses in ITI Curriculum

Underlining the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence, the Chief Minister stressed that AI is now a key component in fields such as agriculture, industry, and manufacturing. He proposed adding AI courses to ITI curricula to help students stay ahead in the job market. Additionally, he called for specialized training in electric vehicle (EV) repair, considering the rapid expansion of the EV sector.

Strengthening ITI Institutes for Better Training

The Chief Minister recalled interactions with polytechnic students who had shared concerns about gaps in education and training facilities. In response, the government is actively working to strengthen ITI institutes by improving resources and infrastructure. The appointment of new training officers is part of this broader effort, ensuring quality education and hands-on training for students. He assured that more initiatives would follow, aiming to bridge skill gaps and create better employment prospects.

Skill is the Real Wealth

Emphasizing the importance of skill development, the Chief Minister remarked, “Skills have no price. If you are skilled, you don’t need to chase jobs—opportunities will come to you.” Skilled workers are always in demand, and the government is taking multiple steps to boost skill development among Jharkhand’s youth. He stressed that technology-driven training is now essential for professional growth.

Skill Training at the Block Level

To make skill development accessible, the government has introduced training programs at the block level, ensuring that even rural youth can benefit. Incentives are also being provided to encourage participation. The Chief Minister urged young individuals to enrol in Skill Development Training Centres, as their expertise will open new career opportunities.

Building Entrepreneurs, Not Just Employees

The Chief Minister concluded by highlighting the government’s vision to go beyond job placements. The aim is to empower youth to become entrepreneurs and launch their startups, thereby contributing to Jharkhand’s economic growth.

With AI-driven education, enhanced skill training, and job opportunities, Jharkhand is on a path toward a stronger, more self-reliant workforce.
