Ranchi, March 6: Jharkhand’s Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Training & Modernization, Suman Gupta, held a high-level review meeting on Thursday to enhance the efficiency of Dial-112, the state’s emergency response system.

Conducted via video conferencing from the Police Headquarters auditorium, the meeting focused on ensuring swift assistance for citizens in distress.

The review covered the objectives of the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) and highlighted the key services provided under Dial-112, including:

  • Immediate assistance in emergencies, particularly for women, children, and senior citizens.
  • Emergency response for crime, fire, accidents, and medical needs.
  • 24×7 integrated support under the Government of India’s initiative.

Key Directives Issued

To improve the effectiveness of Dial-112, the following instructions were issued:

  1. Ensure prompt response to all emergency calls related to crime, fire, accidents, harassment, domestic violence, child safety, and medical emergencies.
  2. Appoint district-level Nodal Officers (Deputy Superintendents of Police) to oversee Dial-112 operations and ensure seamless coordination with emergency services.
  3. Expand public awareness about Dial-112 through targeted campaigns at auto-rickshaws, city buses, women’s colleges, banks, hospitals, ATMs, coaching centres, and schools.
  4. Collect regular feedback from all districts to assess and enhance emergency response efficiency.
