Ranipet, March 7: Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended the 56th Raising Day celebrations of the CISF as the chief guest in Arakkonam, Ranipet in Tamil Nadu on Friday. He paid floral tributes on the occasion.
Shah also released the CISF magazine ‘Sentinel’ and inaugurated various infrastructure and development projects. He inspected the parade held as part of the Raising Day celebrations and praised the contributions of the CISF.
He paid tribute to 127 CISF personnel who lost their lives in service and announced awards for 22 jawans, including 10 President Police Medals and 10 Gallantry Medals.
Six welfare projects worth ₹88 crore were inaugurated for CISF personnel. He noted that since 2019, the CISF Raising Day celebrations have been held across the country instead of in Delhi.

CAPF exam in all Eighth Schedule languages
Shah announced that youth can now take the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) examination in all languages listed in the Eighth Schedule, including Tamil.
“Till now, there was no place for mother tongue in the CAPF recruitment. PM Narendra Modi decided that our youth will now be able to write their CAPF exam in all languages in the eight list, including Tamil. I want to urge the CM of Tamil Nadu to take steps towards introducing curriculum of medical and engineering courses in the Tamil language as soon as possible,” he said.
Shah hails CISF’s contribution to security
Amit Shah highlighted CISF’s vital role in national progress over the past 56 years, ensuring security across industries, trade, tourism, and research centers. He emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to make India the third-largest economy by 2027 and a developed nation by 2047, with CISF playing a key role in achieving these goals.
Shah praised Tamil Nadu’s contribution to Indian culture and highlighted CISF’s role in securing daily travel for over one crore people, including 70 lakh passengers in Delhi Metro and multiple airports without security lapses. He also mentioned that CISF manages security for the new Parliament and 250 ports.
