Ranchi, April 9: Marking the foundation day of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Alok Kumar Dubey—former President of Jharkhand State NSUI and General Secretary of the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee—congratulated the student organisation and praised its enduring role in shaping the nation’s democratic fabric.

An Ideological Movement, Not Just a Student Body

Speaking on the occasion, Dubey emphasised that NSUI is more than a student organisation—it is an ideological movement that has consistently worked to strengthen democratic values in India.

“NSUI was established in 1971 by then Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi with the vision of connecting young people to progressive ideas and involving them in the task of nation-building,” he said. “Over the decades, the organisation has led several historic struggles advocating for education, employment, and student rights.”

Planting Seeds of Political Awareness

Reflecting on his own journey, Dubey noted that his foray into public life began with NSUI, which he described as his first school of political ideology.

“NSUI has given voice to the aspirations of students across the country. It sows the seeds of political consciousness and social responsibility in student life,” he added. “In today’s challenging times, when both the education system and the future of youth are under pressure, the role of organisations like NSUI becomes even more crucial.”

A Call to Action for Youth

Encouraging student participation, Dubey called upon the youth to unite in building a robust democracy and to take the message of NSUI to every village, town, and university.

Celebrated Across the State

To mark the foundation day, NSUI workers and former student leaders from across Jharkhand took to social media to share their reflections and celebrate the organisation’s contributions.
