Pankaj Advani finishes runner-up at World Matchplay Billiards Championship

Carlow, April 12: Pankaj Advani narrowly missed out on the title at the WBL World Matchplay Billiards Championship, finishing as runner-up after a gripping final against England’s David Causier in Carlow, Ireland.

Despite racing to an early 2-0 lead in the best-of-15 frames, Advani eventually went down 7-8 in a thrilling contest where momentum shifted throughout.

Causier edged out Advani in the decisive frame, with the final score reading 8-7 (19-100, 0-100, 100-47, 100-52, 19-100, 100-0, 49-100, 100-3, 34-100, 4-100, 100-85, 31-100, 100-53, 100-43, 100-28) after a hard-fought battle.

Advani, India’s most celebrated cueist, will now shift focus to defending his IBSF World Billiards Championship crown, a title he has held since 2016.

The tournament, starting Sunday, will feature the timed format, promising high-scoring performances from top players around the world.
