New Delhi, April 15: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested four individuals of a digital arrest gang. Among the arrested cybercriminals, two are from Mumbai and two from Moradabad.

The CBI carried out raids at 12 locations in connection with this gang involved in digital arrests. The agency had registered an FIR in the case at the request of the Rajasthan government.

In this case, the victims were held digitally hostage by the cybercriminals for over three months. During this period, they were extorted 42 times, with the total amount collected reaching ₹7.67 crore.

Following an in-depth investigation involving extensive data analysis and profiling, the CBI was able to identify the accused using advanced investigative techniques.

Based on the leads obtained during the probe, raids were conducted at 12 locations across Moradabad and Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Krishnanagar in West Bengal.

During the raids, the CBI seized a large volume of material including bank accounts, debit cards, cheque books, deposit slips, and digital devices/evidence.

A special CBI judge has granted a five-day remand of the accused for further investigation.
