Madhubani, April 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on a visit to Madhubani, Bihar, marked National Panchayati Raj Day by unveiling and launching development initiatives worth over ₹13,480 crore. He also presented the National Panchayat Awards to top-performing Panchayats.
Focusing on rural housing, PM Modi handed over keys to new beneficiaries of over 1 lakh PMAY-G and 54,000 PMAY-U homes in Bihar, while also releasing instalments to 10 lakh PMAY-G beneficiaries across India.

He further distributed sanction letters to 15 lakh new rural housing recipients and transferred ₹930 crore to over 2 lakh Self Help Groups under the DAY-NRLM scheme.
The Prime Minister also flagged off several trains to enhance rail connectivity, including the Amrit Bharat Express (Saharsa–Mumbai), Namo Bharat Rapid Rail (Jaynagar–Patna), and new services between Pipra–Saharsa and Saharsa–Samastipur.
He inaugurated the Supaul-Pipra and Hasanpur-Bithan rail lines, two rail overbridges at Chapra and Bagaha, and dedicated the Khagaria-Alauli line.

In a bid to modernize Bihar’s power infrastructure, PM Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for electricity projects worth over ₹6,200 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme.
He also launched a ₹340 crore LPG bottling plant with a rail unloading facility in Gopalganj to improve bulk LPG logistics.
