Jharkhand DGP honours achievers of first All India Police Cluster tournament

Ranchi, April 24: Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta today felicitated the bronze medal winners of the Jharkhand Police who shone at the inaugural All India Police Badminton and Table Tennis Cluster 2024-25. The ceremony was held today at the Police Headquarters in Ranchi.

The national-level tournament, hosted by Kerala Police in Kochi from April 11 to 15, brought together 43 teams representing state and central police forces from across the country. Jharkhand Police fielded a contingent of 31 players—23 in badminton and eight in table tennis—under the management of Shailendra Kumar Sinha, Director of Jharkhand Police Academy, Hazaribagh.

Medal Winners Recognised

Jharkhand Police athletes delivered an impressive performance, clinching five bronze medals in table tennis events:

  • In the Government Officer (GO) Women’s Singles, A. Vijayalakshmi, IG (Trainee), secured a bronze medal.
  • In the GO Mixed Doubles, Vijayalakshmi teamed up with Anuranjan Kispotta, DIG of the Special Branch, to claim another bronze.
  • In the Non-Government Officer (NGO) Men’s Doubles, Sub Inspector Ajay Bhan Thapa and Havildar Pankaj Rai also brought home bronze medals.

Celebration of Sporting Spirit

The DGP congratulated the medallists and honoured them with commemorative medals at the felicitation ceremony. Shailendra Kumar Sinha was also in attendance, who played a key role in guiding the team’s preparation and participation.
