Indian Navy steps up maritime operations in Arabian Sea

THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

New Delhi, May 1: In response to growing regional security concerns following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian Navy has intensified its presence and operations in the Arabian Sea, particularly within India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

Warships have been placed on high alert, conducting a series of anti-ship and anti-aircraft exercises recently to demonstrate operational readiness and deter potential threats.

As per defence sources, these exercises are part of a sustained effort to reinforce maritime security. The Indian Coast Guard has also deployed vessels in forward areas near the Gujarat coastline, working closely with the Navy to increase surveillance near the international maritime boundary.

Earlier on Sunday, Indian Navy warships carried out multiple successful anti-ship missile firings. The Navy later shared that these drills were aimed at revalidating the precision strike capability of its platforms, systems, and personnel.

While significant, the firings were just one element of the Navy’s broader maritime security strategy currently underway.

These measures signal India’s proactive posture in safeguarding its strategic interests at sea, particularly amid a volatile regional security climate.
