THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

New Delhi, May 17: In a major diplomatic outreach, the Indian government will dispatch seven all-party delegations of Members of Parliament to key countries to present a unified stance on terrorism and India’s recent military action, Operation Sindoor.

The delegations will engage with foreign governments to build consensus around India’s position following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives.

Led by prominent MPs from across the political spectrum, each delegation will consist of 5–6 members and visit countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

The MPs will articulate India’s firm stance on counterterrorism, especially highlighting Pakistan’s role in cross-border militancy, to strengthen international backing for New Delhi’s security narrative.

The diplomatic engagements are expected to commence after May 22, with invitations already sent out. The mission is being coordinated by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs under the supervision of Minister Kiren Rijiju.

This outreach comes in the wake of rising tensions between India and Pakistan. After the Pahalgam attack, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terror infrastructure across the border. The military escalation saw retaliatory drone and missile attacks by Pakistan between May 8 and 10, until both nations agreed to a ceasefire in DGMO-level talks on May 10.
