Ranchi, June 19: In a strong rebuttal to the BJP’s criticism over the Godda Homeopathic College, Dr Tanuj Khatri, Central Member of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has accused the opposition party of engaging in “politics of lies and pretence” while the Soren-led government focuses on rebuilding the state’s health infrastructure.
BJP Left the Health System on a Ventilator: JMM
Dr Khatri criticised the BJP for what he called its catastrophic neglect of public health during its tenure. “When BJP was in power, Jharkhand’s hospitals were in a shambles—patients eating on the floor, deaths from lack of oxygen, and hospitals without even basic facilities,” he said. “Their leadership was more interested in press conferences than in saving lives.”
Ministers Built Private Empires, Not Public Health
Citing alleged misuse of public resources, Dr Khatri claimed that a former BJP health minister diverted government funds to establish a private medical college. “While the poor struggled to find beds in government hospitals, BJP ministers were selling medical seats for lakhs and crores,” he alleged.

‘No Ambulances, Only Shoulder-Borne Tragedies’
He went on to highlight distressing images from the BJP regime, recalling incidents where grieving families were forced to carry the bodies of their loved ones on their shoulders due to the unavailability of ambulances. “This was not governance—it was abandonment,” he said.

The Patna Collapse and the Myth of the Double Engine
Dr Khatri also aimed at the BJP-led “double engine” governments, pointing to the recent collapse of the Patna Medical College Hospital ceiling. “They criticise our efforts in Godda, but can’t keep ceilings from falling in their own stronghold,” he said.
BJP’s Real Agenda: Undermining Public Healthcare
According to the JMM leader, the BJP’s opposition to institutions like RIMS-2 and the Godda Homeopathic College is part of a broader agenda to dismantle public healthcare and push privatisation. “Their model is clear—let the poor suffer, and let the rich pay to stay well,” he stated.
Hemant Government Laying the Foundation for a Healthier Jharkhand
Dr Khatri outlined the achievements of the Hemant Soren administration, including:
- Budget approval and infrastructure development at Godda Homoeopathic College
- Recruitment of teachers and medical staff
- Expansion of services at RIMS with modern facilities
- Launch of ambulance services and mobile medical units
- Strengthening of AYUSH and homoeopathy systems
- Free treatment for the poor and maternal-child health initiatives
“Where the BJP dug a pit, we are building a platform for public health. This is the real difference between our vision and theirs,” he asserted.
Message to the BJP: Stop the Politics of Lies
Dr Khatri concluded with a stern message to BJP leaders: “Instead of misleading the people of Jharkhand with falsehoods, they should reflect on their legacy of failure. The public has seen the truth and is standing firmly with the JMM.”
