Jamshedpur, November 1: Loyola School, Telco, organised Career Compass – A Guiding Session for the Future on Saturday to help students explore emerging career options beyond conventional choices.
Jointly organised by the Loyola Alumni Association (LAA) and the XLRI Alumni Committee (ALCOM), the programme brought together professionals, alumni and XLRI Jamshedpur students to guide Classes IX, X and XI in making informed career decisions.
Convened by Ronny D’Costa, the programme featured interactive sessions on the evolving employment landscape and opportunities across a range of sectors.
Sessions Explore Diverse Career Paths
The sessions covered entrepreneurship, aviation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, data science, public policy, software engineering, finance, aerospace engineering, law, psychology, biotechnology and education, among other emerging fields.
A special storytelling session highlighted the role of creativity, effective communication and connecting with audiences through narratives.
Speakers included Vinod Menon, Mrinal K. Paul, Satish Agarwal and Shonali Goswami, along with a panel of XLRI students and alumni. Drawing on their academic and professional experiences, they shared industry perspectives and practical guidance on choosing and pursuing different career paths.
Students Interact with Professionals
The interactive format gave students an opportunity to ask questions and learn about the skills, qualifications and opportunities associated with different professions. The sessions also encouraged them to identify their interests and aptitudes while keeping pace with changing industry requirements and professional trends.
The initiative provided a platform for students to interact with experienced professionals and strengthened alumni-led mentoring efforts at Loyola School and XLRI.
The programme concluded with the felicitation of the speakers and convenor Ronny D’Costa for their contributions.
The event reflected the commitment of both alumni communities to mentoring and preparing students to navigate an increasingly diverse and competitive professional world.
