Monsoon activity intensifies across Jharkhand, heavy rain to continue

Jamshedpur, June 24: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast increased monsoon activity across Jharkhand over the next four days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms likely in several regions of the state.

June 24, 2025: Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over north-western and central parts of Jharkhand. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds (40–50 kmph) is likely at isolated locations across the state.

June 25, 2025: Heavy rainfall is likely over south-western and north-eastern parts of the state. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) may occur at isolated places.

June 26, 2025: Very heavy rainfall may lash south-western districts of Jharkhand. Heavy rainfall is also likely in southern and adjoining central regions. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) is expected in isolated areas.

June 27, 2025: Heavy rainfall is forecast over southern and adjoining central districts. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) may occur in isolated parts of the state.

Monsoon Progress & Synoptic Situation

The Northern Limit of the Monsoon continues to pass through: Jaipur, Agra, Rampur, Dehradun, Shimla, Pathankot, Jammu and further extending to 34.0°N/71.0°E.

A trough line extends from a cyclonic circulation over central Uttar Pradesh to northwest Bay of Bengal via Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and north Odisha, up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level.

Another trough runs roughly along Longitude 87°E, north of Latitude 21°N, at 3.1 km above mean sea level.
