Jamshedpur, July 14: In view of the ongoing heavy rainfall and the weather department’s alert for more downpours, all government and private schools in Jamshedpur will remain closed on Tuesday, July 15, as a safety measure.

The decision was taken by the East Singhbhum district administration to ensure the well-being of students and school staff amid waterlogging and storm-related risks in several parts of the city.

Schools across the city have already begun informing parents and students through WhatsApp messages and school groups, advising them to stay indoors and take precautions.

Several schools were scheduled to conduct assessments and examinations, which now stand deferred. Notably, Rajendra Vidyalaya School has officially postponed Tuesday’s First Terminal Examination, rescheduling it for Monday, July 21. Students were notified of the change this evening.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and gusty winds (30–40 Kmph) across the Kolhan region, including Jamshedpur.

The city has already recorded substantial rainfall in the last 48 hours, leading to traffic snarls, waterlogging in low-lying areas like Mango, Jugsalai, and Bagbera, and disruption in public movement.

Authorities have placed disaster response teams on standby and urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel. Control rooms are active to handle rain-related emergencies, and people can contact local helplines in case of flooding, tree falls, or any other hazards.

People are advised to follow official advisories and weather updates closely. The district administration is expected to review the situation further before issuing new instructions for the coming days.
