Ranchi, July 17: Dr Thakur Siddhant Arjun from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, has been appointed as the new convener of the Medical Students Network (MSN) for Jharkhand. The new state body has been constituted under the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to represent and address the concerns of medical students in the state.

Alongside Dr Siddhant, Dr Shubham Sagar from Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital (PJMCH), Dumka, has been named the general secretary, and Dr Joga Govardhan Ashish of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Deoghar, has been appointed as the state’s National Council Member.

Dr Siddhant takes over the convener’s role from Dr Aman Singh, who has now been elected as the Central Zone Coordinator of the MSN national body.

The nine-member executive committee also includes Sushant Kumar (Co-Convener-1), Anushri Baral (Co-Convener-2), Pratik Ranjan (Joint Secretary-1), Anant Raj (Joint Secretary-2), Akanksha Tiwari (Joint Secretary-3), and Raja Babu (Joint Secretary-4), all representing various medical colleges of Jharkhand.

The newly constituted committee was formed jointly by IMA State President Dr A.K. Singh, Secretary Dr Pradeep Kumar Singh, Finance Secretary Dr B.P. Kashyap, State Chairman Dr Sushil Kumar, JDN President Dr Vikash Kumar, and Secretary Dr Raghvendra Kumar.

Focus on Student Welfare and Awareness

Speaking on his appointment, Dr Thakur Siddhant Arjun said that MSN has been formed by the IMA to resolve issues faced by MBBS students and young doctors at the state level.

“Although students face numerous challenges in medical colleges, we will strive to address them while fostering unity among departments,” he stated.

He also emphasized that the network’s broader mission includes spreading awareness about public health and medical issues. Dr Siddhant added that a meeting of the new committee will soon be convened to plan future initiatives and programmes.

MSN State Chairman Dr Sushil Kumar expressed hope that the newly appointed office bearers will work responsibly and in the best interests of medical students across the state.
