Daltonganj, July 26: The land looters have adopted a new, vicious and foul plan to usurp plots of land in Jharkhand. It’s silent and very dangerous. The land grabbers’ arms-twisting tactic is very ominous. It leaves the genuine landowner helpless and submissive.

Land Grabbers’ Strategy: Owners Intimidated, Forced into Cheap Deals

The land looters first locate and identify plots of land lying vacant for long periods of time without their owner or possessor ever visiting the plots of land even once in a year. Such a plot of land is a jackpot for the land grabbers.

Once such a plot of land is traced and identified, then the land grabbers raise a boundary wall across the plot of land at their own expense without caring a fig for what the consequences of it will be for raising such an illegal and unauthorised boundary wall across the plot of land of others.

In the meantime the affected land owner gets information about his plot of land getting so grabbed, rushes to the plot only to find a stiff resistance from the land looters who use all tricks to frighten the genuine land owner even threatening him with dire consequences all to take illegal possession of the plot of land and if it’s not possible then to extract ten times high the cost of the construction of the boundary wall so raised by the land grabbers.

In the majority of cases, land looters pressure the land owners to sell the plot at the rate decided by the land grabbers, which is always a peanut.

A Daltonganj resident, a pensioner, recently faced a shocking case of land grab in Hazaribag when miscreants illegally erected a boundary wall around his 8-decimal plot.

Swift Action by Hazaribag SP Prevents Loss

The resident approached the Hazaribag SP Anjani Anjan, who helped the victim in a great way. Anjani Anjan alerted the nearest police picket and directed them to trace and track the land grabber. One was interrogated by the police, who denied his involvement, but the case of land loot was evident beyond any doubt.

Under express order of the Hazaribag SP, the local police began zeroing in on dubious characters who went into hibernation, but fears are that they may be back to their old game of annexation of plots of land for their own aggrandisement.

Sources said, “Had the SP Hazaribag Anjani Anjan not taken a stern and prompt response and action, the Daltonganj victim resident would have been in deep financial losses.”

A posse of police force stood guard over the looted plot so long that its measurement was taken.

Land Mafia on the Radar; Police Launch Crackdown

Such is the fear of the Hazaribag SP that no land grabber even dared to loiter around the plot in any disguise, barring one or two scooter riders who did a kind of recce during the measurement of the plot of land. The scooter riders first did the recce without any masks on their faces, but for the second time they wore helmets to hide their faces or identity.

A Hazaribag resident shared with this correspondent that every fifth person out of 10 in Hazaribag is a land shark whose job is to locate plots of land lying without a boundary wall or going uncared for months and years.

This Hazaribag resident further shared that SP Anjani Anjan has asked the police to launch a drive against such grabbers of land.
