Jamshedpur, August 1: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning in parts of Jharkhand over the next few days.

On August 1 and 2, heavy rain is likely over north-eastern and north-central parts of the state.
Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 Kmph may occur at isolated places.

Similar weather conditions are expected to persist on August 3 and 4 across several parts of the state.
According to the IMD, the monsoon trough at mean sea level currently passes through Sri Ganganagar, Rohtak, Banda, Sidhi, Ranchi, Diamond Harbour, and extends southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.
In addition, an upper air cyclonic circulation is active over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh, extending up to 7.6 Km above mean sea level.
This system is expected to enhance rainfall activity across Jharkhand during the forecast period.
Authorities have advised people to remain cautious, particularly in lightning-prone areas, and farmers are urged to plan agricultural activities accordingly.
