Dhanbad, August 7: Jharkhand has become the first state in the country to publish a book on biodiversity awareness in Sanskrit.

The book, titled “Jharkhandrajyey Jaivvividhta Adhiniyamasya Kriyanvyanam”, has been translated into Sanskrit by Dr. Anand Kumar, a professor at Deshbandhu College, Delhi University.

The publication is part of the Jharkhand Biodiversity Board’s (JBB) ongoing efforts to promote public awareness and facilitate the implementation of the Biodiversity Act.

So far, the JBB has published the book in over a dozen languages, including Mundari, Ho, Santhali, Panchpargania, Khorta, and Nagpuri. With the addition of Sanskrit, the campaign now spans a broader linguistic spectrum.

Sanjeev Kumar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Member Secretary of the JBB, emphasized the importance of language in public outreach.

“Language is the most powerful tool for raising awareness among people, and using local languages makes it easier to convey the message,” said Kumar.

“Since Sanskrit is considered the mother of all Indian languages, publishing this book in Sanskrit will make our biodiversity awareness campaign more impactful and effective,” he added.
