New Delhi, August 8: Members of the INDIA bloc staged a vocal protest in the Parliament premises on Friday, accusing the Election Commission of manipulating the electoral rolls in Bihar under the guise of a Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Holding a banner that read “SIR: Silent Invisible Rigging,” the MPs raised slogans alleging widespread “vote theft” aimed at influencing the outcome of upcoming state elections.

The protest, which has persisted since the beginning of the Monsoon Session, reflects growing opposition anger over what they see as a lack of transparency and accountability in the revision process.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra strongly criticised the EC’s refusal to share the updated voter list, questioning the rationale behind demanding affidavits from complainants.

“Why are they asking for the affidavit? If there is an intentional mistake, then you should investigate it. Why are you not providing us with the voter list? Why are you not investigating?” she said.

She further warned that the deletion of even 1 lakh voters could decisively swing the outcome in Assembly elections, undermining democratic integrity.

Despite the uproar in both Houses since the start of the Monsoon Session, the Election Commission reiterated on Friday that no political party has submitted any claims or objections to the draft rolls released on August 1.

The Commission maintains that the revision process ensures all eligible voters will be included while ineligible ones will be removed before finalisation.

It has been more than a week since the EC opened the window for corrections, but the INDIA bloc continues to question the fairness of the process, alleging that silent deletions are being used to influence the upcoming elections in Bihar.
