PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Aug 12: IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre issued an alert of thundershowers activity in isolated pockets of Jharkhand in the next three days.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently extends from Faridkot, Ludhiana, Najibabad, Shahjahanpur, Balia, and Jalpaiguri, before stretching east-northeastwards into Arunachal Pradesh.

An upper air cyclonic circulation persists over central Uttar Pradesh, extending up to 4.5 km above mean sea level and tilting southwards with height.

A low-pressure area is expected to develop over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal around August 13, which may further enhance rainfall activity in the coming days.

Over the past 24 hours, monsoon conditions remained normal across Jharkhand, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms recorded at a few locations.

Garhwa received the state’s highest rainfall at 61.5 mm in the past 24 hours, while the highest maximum temperature of 36.9°C was reported from Seraikela.
