Jamshedpur, Sept 2: The India Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rainfall in the southern and central parts of Jharkhand today.
Thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by gusty winds (30–40 kmph), are also likely to occur at isolated places across the state between September 2 and 5.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently passes through Ganganagar, Pilani, Datia, Satna, Daltonganj, and Digha, extending east-southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.

A trough from a cyclonic circulation over northwest Rajasthan runs across Jharkhand, stretching up to 3.1 Km above mean sea level.
Meanwhile, an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over the northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Myanmar coast, extending up to 5.8 Km and tilting southwestwards with height.
Under its influence, a low-pressure area has formed over the north Bay of Bengal.
Monsoon activity remained normal over Jharkhand during the past 24 hours, with light to moderate rainfall recorded at isolated places.

The highest rainfall of 35.5 mm was reported at Dhurki (Garhwa), while Godda recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 35.6°C.
As of today, Jharkhand was facing surplus rainfall of 26 per cent so far this monsoon.
