Patna, Sept 2: A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday (September 2, 2025) approved 49 proposals.

In a major decision, the Nitish government granted a significant pay hike for Home Guard personnel, raising their daily wage by ₹347.

Currently, Home Guard personnel in Bihar were receiving ₹774 per day. With the hike, their daily wage will rise to ₹1,121.

This means that if they work the entire month, their monthly earnings will cross ₹30,000. Effectively, the government has approved their long-standing demand for “equal pay for equal work.”

Just five days ago, Home Guard personnel had taken to the streets in Bhagalpur, demanding the same. Protests were also held in Arrah and Chhapra, where personnel staged demonstrations. They marched from the Combined Building Gate, raising slogans against the government.

A large number of personnel joined the protest, shouting slogans like “Fulfil our demands,” “Give us equal pay,” and “Government, wake up.” The agitating personnel had warned that their movement would continue until their demands were met.
