Jamshedpur, Sept 8; A 20-year-old youth was grievously injured on being shot at by criminals under Ulidih thana area in Mango at the wee hours today.
The victim, identified as Banti Kumar, sustained a pellet in his chest, causing his condition to be very serious.
He was first taken to MGM Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH), from where he was transferred to Tata Main Hospital. From the Tata Main Hospital, he has been referred to RIMS, where he is being operated upon.

The firing incident took place near Kagdamba Hotel on Dimna Road at about 1.00 am as the victim was reportedly returning home having attended a birthday party of a friend at Sakchi.
The incident has triggered sensation in the locality near Jagdamba Hotel and also in Sankosai’s Laxman Nagar, where Banti resides.
The police, however, said that the firing incident took place following a brawl cropped up during boozing.
“Bunti was among a group of youths busy in boozing. Incidentally, a brawl cropped up over something between the victim and some other in the group. First, the two were engaged in fisticuff but later the other one, whose name cannot be disclosed in view of the investigation reason, had fished out a pistol and fired a shot from close range,” said Ulidih thana OC, Deepak Kumar Thakur, while talking to The Jharkhand Story.

The OC said the assailant and some other involved in the firing incident are absconding, but they would be arrested soon.
Thakur revealed that the police got to know the complete picture after taking CCTV footage of the crime scene.
