Ranchi, Sept 13: Legal Services Clinics under the NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayta Yojna 2025 were virtually inaugurated across all districts of Jharkhand on Saturday. The initiative is dedicated to defence personnel, ex-servicemen, and their dependent family members.

The programme was inaugurated at Kerketta Auditorium, Army Cantonment, Dipatoli, Ranchi, by Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court and Patron-in-Chief of JHALSA. He was joined by Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Executive Chairman of JHALSA; Justices Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi and Sanjay Prasad of Jharkhand High Court; Major General Sajjan Singh Maan, GOC, 23 Infantry Division; and Brigadier Raj Kumar, Sena Medal, Deputy GOC, 23 Infantry Division.

Senior army officers, judicial officers, the DIG-cum-Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandan Kumar Sinha, the Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi, Manjunath Bhajantri, and chairpersons and secretaries of DLSAs participated, with officials from all districts joining virtually.

90-Day Campaign Launched

On the occasion, a 90-Day Campaign under the Veer Parivar Sahayta Yojna was also launched. The campaign seeks to spread awareness, identify beneficiaries, and ensure immediate relief for defence families in need of legal assistance.

JHALSA’s Commitment Highlighted

Delivering the welcome address, Kumari Ranjana Asthana, Member Secretary of JHALSA, outlined the authority’s progress in expanding access to legal services even in the remotest areas of the state. She stressed that the campaign aims to provide all possible legal aid to defence personnel, ex-servicemen, and their dependents.

Major General Sajjan Singh Maan praised NALSA and JHALSA for conceptualising and implementing the scheme, calling it a landmark step for the welfare of defence personnel and their families.

Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad said the scheme, launched on the advice of the Chief Justice, ensures immediate relief to those in need of legal support. He underlined that the initiative also aims to make defence personnel aware of their legal and constitutional rights under Article 39A of the Constitution.

Judiciary’s Tribute to Soldiers

Addressing the gathering, Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan said:
“Legal Services Clinics for bravehearts, veterans, and their families are not mere ceremonial events but a solemn pledge. This is the judiciary’s humble tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to safeguarding the nation. The Judiciary of Jharkhand stands firmly with our soldiers.”

National Lok Adalat Settles 20 Lakh Cases

Alongside the inauguration, the National Lok Adalat was conducted across Jharkhand. A total of 288 benches were constituted, disposing of 19,01,846 pre-litigation cases and 1,60,032 pending cases. The settlements reached amounted to Rs. 9,24,93,44,880.
