Gaya, Sept 20: President Droupadi Murmu visited the Vishnupad Temple in Gaya, where she offered Pind Daan for the salvation of her ancestors.
Elaborate security arrangements were made for her visit, along with special preparations at the temple for the rituals.
The ceremony was conducted by Odisha-based priest Mangal Jhangar, who performed the rites as per traditional customs.

On the occasion, priest Mangal Jhangar said that the Pind Daan rituals were carried out to ensure liberation of the President’s ancestors, strictly following religious procedures.
He added that President Murmu was also informed about the spiritual significance of Pind Daan performed in Gaya.
This was the first time that President Murmu personally performed Pind Daan in Gaya. However, documents were also shown to her indicating that her forefathers had performed the same ritual at this sacred site in the past.

According to the priest, the Vishnupad Temple Management Committee had informed a few days earlier about the President’s planned visit for Pind Daan. Following the completion of the rituals today, President Murmu returned after concluding her visit.
