Ranchi, Dec. 17: Santosh Kumar Mehta, 35, who ran a coaching centre in Ranchi, died today due to drowning in Pandipuring waterfall located in Torpa, Khunti district of Jharkhand.
He was the director of a coaching centre called Study Centre in Ratu Road. He was a resident of Tori Chandwa.
According to the information, 40 people from the study centre in Ranchi had reached Pandipuring falls for a picnic. These included students and teachers studying in the centre.
They had reached Pandipuring Falls by bus.
Teachers at the centre said that some people here got busy with cooking. Some people went to take a bath in the river.

Santosh Kumar Mehta and two centre students, Ritesh and Aman, also bathed in the river. Meanwhile, Santosh suddenly started drowning in water, so Ritesh and Aman came forward to save him. They tried to pull Santosh out by holding his hand, but in the process, Ritesh and Aman also started drowning. Other people bathing there saved both of them. People also tried to save Santosh, but he soaked in the water.
Fifth incident of drowning in Pandipuring
This is the fifth drowning incident in Pandipuring Falls. Before this, a youth from Lohajimi, Mahendra Cheek Badaik, had died due to drowning in Pandipuring. He had gone there to fish. In this sequence he drowned in the river. Apart from this, on January 21, Shubham Mishra of Ranchi; on January 28, Raunaq Mathur, a youth from Khunti; and on January 29, Sunny Barla, a student of Ranchi, died due to drowning in Pandipuring. Everyone had reached Pandipuring for a picnic.
