Jamshedpur, Oct 4: Taking a significant initiative towards strengthening the dignity and discipline of Sikh tradition, renowned Sikh preacher and thinker Bhai Harvinder Singh Jamshedpuri held a crucial meeting with Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Garhgaj of Sri Akal Takht Sahib during his visit to Jamshedpur.
In the meeting, Bhai Jamshedpuri emphasized that the Rahat Maryada is not merely a code of conduct, but the very soul of the Sikh sect and the tradition of the Guru. “It is the sacred duty of every Sikh to uphold it,” he asserted, while underlining that without Maryada, discipline, unity, and the spirit of selfless service remain incomplete.

He further drew attention to the fact that in several Gurdwaras of the Kolhan region, the Rahat Maryada is not being strictly observed, resulting in disputes and divisions among devotees. Expressing deep concern, he urged that the Akal Takht issue necessary guidelines to ensure smooth and uniform implementation.

Responding to the concerns, Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Garhgaj assured that the matter would be taken seriously. “The Rahat Maryada is not only about religious discipline but also about the dignity and integrity of the Panth. We will awaken the consciousness of Rahat Maryada through stories and teachings, so that future generations remain firmly connected with tradition,” he said.
Jathedar Garhgaj also agreed that adherence to the Maryada is the only way to resolve disputes and maintain harmony in Gurdwaras. He appealed to the Sikh community of Kolhan to rise above differences and unite under the guidance of the Guru’s Maryada.
