Jamshedpur, Oct 7: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall at isolated places across Jharkhand between October 7 and 10, even as the process of southwest monsoon withdrawal has commenced from parts of the country.

According to the latest IMD bulletin, light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated locations over the state between October 7 – 10, while the weather is expected to gradually become dry thereafter.

The line of withdrawal of the southwest monsoon currently passes through 20°N/69°E, Veraval, Bharuch, Ujjain, Jhansi, Shahjahanpur and 30°N/81°E.

Meteorologists have indicated that conditions are favourable for further withdrawal of the monsoon from more parts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, and some parts of Maharashtra, in the next three to four days.

An upper air cyclonic circulation persists over East Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood, extending up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level.

Another cyclonic circulation over northeast Bihar and adjoining areas is observed between 1.5 and 3.1 Km above mean sea level.

The two weather systems are influencing Jharkhand’s weather pattern, resulting in the light rain activity expected in the coming days.

Officials said that the monsoon has been normal over Jharkhand this year, providing adequate rainfall across most districts.

The gradual withdrawal of the monsoon is likely to pave the way for clearer skies and a dip in night temperatures later this month.
