New Delhi, Oct 30: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday announced that a grand parade will now be held every year on October 31 to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, marking Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.

The event, to be held in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, will mirror the Republic Day Parade in its scale and presentation, showcasing the discipline and valour of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and State Police contingents. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the inaugural parade at 7:55 a.m.

Reflecting on Sardar Patel’s monumental contribution to integrating India after independence, Shah said Patel’s vision and determination laid the foundation for a united nation. He also accused the Congress party of neglecting Patel’s legacy—delaying the Bharat Ratna honour by over four decades and failing to establish a proper memorial.

Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for restoring due respect to Sardar Patel’s memory, crediting him for building the world-renowned Statue of Unity and the Sardar Patel Memorial.
