Kupwara, Nov 8: Security forces on Saturday morning foiled yet another terrorist infiltration attempt in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Under Operation Pimple, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted a joint mission in the Keran sector, eliminating two terrorists. The encounter took place near the Line of Control (LoC).

According to the Army, intelligence agencies had received inputs on November 7 regarding possible infiltration in the Keran sector. Acting on this information, the Army and J&K Police launched a coordinated search operation in the area.

During the search, soldiers noticed suspicious movement and issued a warning to the infiltrators, who opened fire. In the ensuing exchange of fire, two terrorists were killed. The operation is still underway, and search efforts have been intensified in the surrounding areas.

The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed the encounter on its official X handle, stating that two terrorists were neutralized during Operation Pimple in the Keran sector.

The identities of the slain terrorists are yet to be established. Preliminary investigations suggest that they were attempting to infiltrate from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
