Varanasi, Nov 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off four new Vande Bharat Express trains from Varanasi railway station. The new services will operate on the Varanasi–Khajuraho, Lucknow–Saharanpur, Firozpur–Delhi, and Ernakulam–Bengaluru routes.

These additions are expected to enhance connectivity and provide faster travel across several regions of the country. During the event, PM Modi also interacted with children onboard the Varanasi–Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express. With these launches, the number of operational Vande Bharat trains across India has now crossed 160.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi emphasized that robust infrastructure is the foundation of any nation’s development and said India is rapidly advancing in that direction. He noted that the Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat, and Amrit Bharat trains represent a new generation of Indian Railways, marking a comprehensive modernization drive in the sector.

Among the new services, the Varanasi–Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express stands out as a key route connecting major religious and historical destinations such as Kashi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, and Khajuraho. The new train will save nearly 2 hours and 40 minutes compared to existing services, offering passengers a faster and more comfortable journey.

The Prime Minister also held a roadshow in Varanasi, where a large crowd gathered on both sides of the road to greet him. People showered flower petals, while children waved enthusiastically. The city echoed with chants of “Har Har Mahadev,” “Modi-Modi,” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
