Mumbai, Nov 15: In a landmark reshuffle ahead of the next IPL season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have acquired Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) long-time captain Sanju Samson for his existing price of Rs 18 crore, triggering a blockbuster three-way player swap that sends Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to RR.
Ravindra Jadeja returns to the franchise where he first made his IPL debut in 2008, joining RR at a revised fee of Rs 14 crore. His career since then has been defined by a legendary tenure with CSK between 2012 and 2025, interrupted only by one season with Kochi Tuskers Kerala and two seasons with Gujarat Lions during CSK’s suspension.

At CSK, Jadeja became the franchise’s top wicket-taker with 143 scalps in 186 matches and also its leading run-scorer with 2,198 runs. His defining moment arrived in the 2023 final when his last-over heroics clinched the title. Across his stint with the franchise, he captured three championships—2018, 2021 and 2023—cementing his place among CSK’s greatest performers.

English all-rounder Sam Curran completes the trade, moving to RR at his existing price of Rs 2.4 crore. With stints at Punjab Kings and CSK, Curran has nearly 1,000 IPL runs and 59 wickets across 64 matches, highlighted by an 88-run knock last season.
For CSK, Samson arrives as a marquee addition at Rs 18 crore. After more than a decade with RR—where he became their top run-getter, led them to the 2022 final, and guided the side over 67 matches—he now shifts to Chennai following an injury-affected 2025 season.

Despite a strong batting record for RR, his absence midway through the last campaign contributed to the team’s ninth-place finish. Samson will now take charge of CSK’s batting plans as the five-time champions reshape their squad for the next edition.
